Kate TEDMAN

Kate Tedman espone dipinti e ricami che tracciano collegamenti tra diversi temi, segni e simboli.
Forme anamorfiche si uniscono a iterazioni grafiche di uccelli e animali, e passaggi di pittura rappresentativa. Condividendo lo spazio unificante del piano pittorico, i collegamenti si formano tra figurazioni culturalmente disparate. Sperimentiamo un sogno ad occhi aperti sul tappeto magico di connessioni e corrispondenze fittizie.

Questo è un inventario di esotismo che richiama alla mente l’orientalismo inquisitore e acquisitivo dell’esploratore europeo del diciannovesimo secolo, immergendosi nell ‘”altro”.

L’artista fa quasi-maps dell’iconografia dello scambio coloniale, cucendo connessioni attraverso il tempo e lo spazio per formare un amalgama culturale e, ciò che lei descrive come “un sistema per la sopravvivenza”.
