(born in 1964, trained in Basel and Vienna, he resides and works in Berne) is an artist inclined to inner journey, exploring the meanders of the human personality. Güdel works in the field of figurative art, creating large mixed techniques on wood, in which painting is intimately combined with collage. His subjects are mainly groups of characters in which the human figure (often taken from the family context or from himself), is sometimes hybridized with animals and surrounded by great vegetal presences. Its imposing figures, in the colors of a metallic gray-blue, surfacing from the neutral voids of the backgrounds, seem to come from an imaginary, solemn and archaic world, to dialogue with the contemporary universe. Dedicated to collecting some personal clothes such as hats and gloves, he creates extraordinary Pop flavor collages. The protagonist of his painting, with strong plastic values, in which there are figurative presences alone or in groups, is the fold of an incisive Baroque sign.
